Patty and other One Kidney Climbers met in Denver recently to train for the Kilimanjaro climb. Patty talked with the NBC affiliate in Denver about her upcoming journey.

Patty was inspired to donate by her sister, who donated to their stepfather 15 years earlier.  She witnessed firsthand the power of living donation. The moment she heard you could donate a kidney to a stranger she was compelled to do it. She knew someone needed it more than her, and it didn’t seem like a big deal to do it.

Patty Graham One Kidney Climb

She is climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro to raise awareness about what living donors are capable of, and advocate for living kidney donation; especially spreading the idea of donating to a stranger.

Patty is a nurse in Boulder, Colorado.  She lives with her puppy, Benson the Wonder Dog.  When she is not climbing mountains she enjoys travel, trying new things, learning, hiking, yoga, and silly shenanigans with pals. Patty donated her kidney on November 28, 2017, at UC Health Denver.  “My life has changed in the most unimaginable and remarkable ways since donation and I’m beyond grateful for the opportunity.”
