This isn’t a glamorous picture, but it’s a realistic one. Me, KDA founder Tracey Hulick, working on a Saturday in my dining room.

July 4 update

This past week was an incredible one. I made four mentor matches, and in just a single day talked with donors in Abu Dhabi, Germany, and New Zealand.

This organization has truly gone global, and I have to let that soak in nearly every day because it feels unbelievable.

KDA has our third Board meeting later this week. We are documenting our Mission, Vision, and Values, and will then move on to building our 3 – 5 year strategic plan.

And one word keeps coming up for me as I put in the hours to move this organization forward.

Inclusion.

I frequently get messages from people around the world asking how they can ‘join’ KDA, because they aren’t sure if they are really an athlete.

It hurts my heart a little and wants to send a gigantic cyber hug to each person that asks me that.

Do you move your body on purpose to better your health?

Then you are an athlete, and you belong here.

Are you curious about the donation process?

You belong here.

Are you a kidney donor and can’t even remember the last time you worked out?

You belong here.

We may be called Kidney Donor Athletes, but at our core, we are a community of giving, action-oriented souls that want to leave this world better than we found it.

Is that you? Then yes, you belong here.

You will be embraced in this community and we will see you. We will hold space for you and cheer you on in whatever endeavor you are on. You belong here.

As we cement our Mission, Vision, and Values you will see inclusion as a common thread.

We are at our core a community in the truest sense of the word.

And I would love for you to join us. 😊
