Hello KDA community!

This year we successfully hosted our first Kidney Donor Athlete weekend back in July. We had a great turnout, made new connections, and had a lot of fun!

And after much deliberation, we have an announcement for next year…

KDA will be attending the 2020 Transplant Games of America in Meadowlands, New Jersey!! We had a wonderful call last week with one of the organizers and will be partnering with the Transplant Life Foundation. How great is that?!?!

Their mission is very complementary to what ours here at Kidney Donor Athletes and we are excited to join forces and continue to show what is possible as a living donor!

Here is a little info on the Transplant Games:

The Transplant Games of America was founded in 1990 and has been held every year since in various cities around the United States.  On the heels of the 2018 Transplant Games, the largest and most successful in history with over 8,000 attendees, the planning for the 2020 Transplant Game in Meadowlands, NJ, has begun in earnest. We promise it will be an event to remember for all time! An estimated 12,000 to 18,000 individuals are expected to join us July 17th– 22nd in Meadowlands, New Jersey for the 2020 Donate Life Transplant Games. The Transplant Games were founded in 1990 and have been held every other year since, in various cities around the United States.  The 2020 Games in Northern New Jersey next summer will bring together thousands of recipients, living donors, donor families, patients on the national and state waiting lists, transplant professionals, supporters and spectators for a truly unique and inspiring week. Over the course of six days, 41 state teams and several international teams (i.e. Brazil, Australia, India), comprised of transplant recipients and living donors, will compete in 20 athletic and recreational competitions. In addition to the competitions, there are a number of ancillary events held throughout the Games meant for all attendees to enjoy. These events serve as meaningful opportunities for donor families, recipients, donors, and professionals to engage with one another and share their stories.

Sound like fun? We’d love to see you there!

You can compete in track and field, cycling, swimming, volleyball, darts… there is even a virtual triathlon you could do! The full list of events is here.

Teams are organized by your state/region, so the first step would be to contact your team contact which you can find here

Save the date for July 17 – 22, 2020 and we hope to see you in Meadowlands, New Jersey!
