Kidney Donor Athletes
Share Your Story
KDA amplifies the voices of donors
Are you a donor athlete that wants to share your story? Great!
**Update as of 7/18/2022. We are sitting on a lot of content and are pausing on taking story submissions right now! Please check late summer/early fall for an update on when we’ll be taking stories again. Thanks!!**
First off, please aim for at least 600 words for length (more is appreciated). Having some depth and detail to your story helps our audience get to know you and better understand the donation process.
Please write your story as a cohesive narrative rather than just writing it out question and answer style. The submissions that are question and answer style take much longer for me to piece together, and therefore take much longer to get posted on the site. Please also write your story in the first person.
Once you are done please email this to me in Word or PDF format along with at least 5 photos (ideally more) of you. If possible please send photos that are 1920 px wide (or the largest you can email us). Please also include your Facebook and Instagram handles for proper tagging.
To ensure correct categorization of your story on our website please also include in your email:
Where you live (state or country if outside the US).
What sports you participate in.
If you had young children when you donated.
If you conceived post-donation.
If you are a vegan or vegetarian.
These are common questions we get from potential donors. please incorporate these into your story:
What was your activity level like before donation?
How would you describe your recovery post-surgery?
Describe your journey back to fitness after recovering.
Were there unexpected hurdles along the way?
Do you feel different now than you did pre-surgery?
Do you take precautions now that you didn’t before?
