KDA Board Service Guideline
Committee Involvement Encouraged
At Kidney Donor Athletes, we believe that great board leadership begins with a strong understanding of our mission and operations. While not required, prior committee involvement is strongly encouraged for anyone considering a future role on the Board of Directors.
Why It Matters
Serving on a committee is a valuable way to:
- Gain hands-on experience with KDA initiatives
- Build relationships with members and leadership
- Deepen your understanding of our mission, programs, and values
Recommended Committees
Opportunities to get involved include:
- Events
- Engagement & Education
- Marketing & Membership
- Fundraising
- Climb/Endurance Coordination
Next Steps
If you’re interested in future board service, we invite you to connect with our Governance Committee or any current board member. We’ll help you find a committee that aligns with your interests and strengths.
By engaging at the committee level first, you’ll be better positioned to lead, support, and serve KDA at the highest level.
KDA Committees
Want to get involved? We’re happy to hear it! We encourage people to join one of our committees to help serve the organization, the KDA community, and to get to know the KDA Board!
We also have opportunities to serve on our Board of Directors and often recruit committee members. If you know that you’d eventually like to be on the KDA Board of Directors, joining a committee is the first step!
Below are our four working committees that are always accepting new members. If you are interested in any of them please contact the KDA Board member through their email listed in the description.
Events Committee
This area is crucial to engaging others in the community. If you are passionate about helping with creative ideas and execution of opportunities, then this could be the place for you. Events include everything from our global advocacy “One Kidney Climbs” to endurance sports to grassroots local events.

Engagement / Education Committee
Traditionally considered the “program” area, we are focused on engagement and education opportunities to help fulfill our mission. One example is the “first event back” initiative, but there are so many other ideas and ways to inspire and educate. Our mentorship program falls under this committee as well so don’t wait, come find out what the hype is about!

Fundraising Committee
While the title says it all, it isn’t just about asking for money! There are dozens of creative ways to help bring resources to KDA. If you have a grant writing background or just a passion to help grow an organization, come check us out. We have a robust database for tracking and execution of peer-to-peer fundraising and event management.

Marketing / Membership Committee
Do you have a knack for social media, telling stories, writing etc? This is the place where you could use your creativity and help KDA continue to produce great content through social media, newsletters etc. This is also where our new merchandise store sits, so if you are looking to continue to improve upon all that you are seeing in the KDA community, please join us to make us even better!
